Stand Up Blue Valley 2024 endorsed candidates

Updated: Sep 17

Stand Up Blue Valley is pleased to announce our endorsements in the Nov. 5, 2024 general election in races for Kansas Legislature and Johnson County Commissioner.

In formulating our endorsements, candidates who have held public office were evaluated on their voting records, their actions and statements while in office, and their campaign donor lists. Candidates who have not previously held office were sent questionnaires and/or were interviewed. Candidates who we have previously endorsed, if their positions have not changed, were endorsed this election. Incumbents or those who have previously held office, and who supported our Blue Valley students and schools while in office, were endorsed.

Candidates were also evaluated on their affiliations with other groups and political action committees, and any prior/current active campaign support for other political candidates, policies, or politicians.

Over the coming weeks, we will discuss each race and detail how we made our decisions.

These pro-Blue Valley candidates need our support. Campaigning is a lot of work and costs money. We know from past elections that well-financed anti-public education forces, including Americans for Prosperity, will be working to support candidates who seek to undermine and destroy public education, if elected. What can you do today?

Visit the website for your candidates, donate, and sign up to help. Share their campaign Facebook pages on your social media. Each voter can cast a ballot for ONE Kansas Senate candidate and ONE Kansas House candidate. There is also one County Commission seat on BV-area ballots this year, but not every BV voter will have that race on their ballot. Only Blue Valley residents in BOCC District 3 will vote on a County Commissioner for their particular area. Other parts of Blue Valley do not have BOCC seats up for election in 2024.

Ensure your family members are registered to vote! College students should request a mail ballot as soon as they know their college address. (Make sure your college student has stamps so they can return their ballot in the mail.) Voters who will be 18 years old by Nov. 5 may register to vote now. Not sure what districts you are in? Go to this link: VoterView and use the drop down for General Election.

REMEMBER: Although Election Day is Tues., Nov. 5, Johnson County voters will be able to cast their votes in advance, starting in October. Please check our page regularly for information on Advance Voting, both by mail and in-person.
