We’ve endorsed incumbent Rep. Heather Meyer for re-election to House District 29. HD 29 is in the north central portion of Blue Valley, and includes portions of Shawnee Mission.
Heather Meyer was elected in 2021 by the district precinct committee to fill an opening; she was re-elected in 2022 (against an opponent backed by $14,000 in Americans For Prosperity support) and is running unopposed in this election. She is a Medical Social Worker and public school parent who has been involved in PTA, Scouting, and has volunteered in her kids’ schools.
In the legislature, Meyer has put a priority on supporting public education: fully funding our kids’ public schools, and attracting and retaining quality educators. Meyer has voted against irresponsible tax policy and in favor of fully funding public education, and has opposed the use of tax money to fund private schools. She voted in favor of fully funding Special Education. She opposes legislation that allows 18 to 20-year-olds to carry concealed, loaded handguns in public without a permit, including on college and university campuses.
Meyer has consistently engaged with constituents via public forums and participates in monthly Town Halls during the legislative session.
Although she’s unopposed, District 16 voters should be sure to vote for Heather Meyer to show your appreciation for her service.
