We’ve endorsed Jason Anderson for BV-area Senate District 35. Anderson is a Blue Valley dad, public education advocate, and technology executive who stepped up to run for the Kansas Legislature when a newly-drawn Senate district needed a community-minded State Senator. Anderson is also endorsed by the all-volunteer parent organization Game On for Kansas Schools and has earned the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction.
Senate District 35 is on the west side of the Blue Valley School District and extends south all the way to the county line. It includes voters in the excellent Olathe and Spring Hill School Districts, in addition to Blue Valley.
Anderson is opposed by TJ Rose, who does not have a voting record, and who didn’t reply to questions from the Johnson County Post - so reporting on his positions is challenging. But we know now that candidate TJ Rose is backed by dark-money, voucher-supporting organizations, including the Liberty First Project (a new arrival this year) and perennial Americans for Prosperity. Anti-government, anti-fair-taxation, anti-public education AFP has NEVER backed a pro-Blue Valley Schools candidate.
So when Rose claims to “support schools” we can file that in the same folder we have filed those claims made by legislators Kellie Warren, Chris Croft, Carl Turner, and Sean Tarwater - as well as other past legislators who have claimed to support our kids’ schools and then voted AGAINST them.
Be sure to let your friends who live in Senate District 35 know how important it is to elect Jason Anderson to this critical State Senate seat. District 35 voters can help break the supermajority of extreme Brownback-style legislators. This supermajority has led to a number of problems for Blue Valley, including unnecessary delays in fully funding Special Education and even a recently-uncovered plot to cut corporations’ shares of taxes to ZERO!
